High-speed networks, open architectures and intelligent infrastructures that “talk” to each other are creating levels of technological change not seen since the first Industrial Revolution.
What we not so long ago knew simply as the “Internet” has become an “Internet of Things,” a place in which intelligent devices and objects are inextricably connected with each other.
The Internet of Things is itself but a step on the evolutionary path towards an “Internet of Things and Services” – an “Internet of Everything” if you will.
As part of its High-Tech Strategy 2020, Germany has set itself the goal of being Europe’s leading country for digital growth. Important steps have already been taken through the “INDUSTRIE 4.0” Future Project to transform the manufacturing sector.
As the second of 10 Future Projects identified within the government’s High-Tech Strategy 2020 Action Plan, “Smart Service World,” addresses the value chains that exist beyond the smart factory gates, and the related online services which, together, create “smart services.” The goal is to make Germany the digital lead provider of smart services and their underlying platforms.
Germany is excellently placed to meet the challenges of INDUSTRIE 4.0 and the SMART SERVICE WORLD, boasting Europe’s largest – and the world’s fourth largest – ICT industry.
Join us on a journey where the virtual and real words meet to transform not only production, but to effectively reshape the global economy.
