Expert Survey on INDUSTRIE 4.0
We are currently in the middle of the fourth industrial revolution - or "INDUSTRIE 4.0" as it is being called. In the context of an online survey by Deutsche Messe Interactive in collaboration with Germany Trade & Invest 150 decision makers from international companies were asked about the role of INDUSTRIE 4.0.
More than half (54 percent) of those polled said that INDUSTRIE 4.0 is being discussed in the press, politics or business associations in their country. More than sixty percent of those polled have planned specific investments in technologies for smart production processes.

93 percent believe that the emergence of new business models in the field of Smart Services is more likely to strengthen the position of Germany's industry worldwide. Almost half of those polled (49 percent) are also planning investments in Germany within the next one to three years.
The German industry is mainly characterized by small and medium-sized enterprises. Almost ninety percent consider this to be an advantage for the introduction and implementation of INDUSTRIE 4.0. Germany wants to become the lead market and lead provider in the field of INDUSTRIE 4.0 and the resulting Smart Services. The US (26 percent), China (18 percent) and Japan (17 percent) are considered to be the strongest competitors in this area.
